Power Supply & Electricity Rates Update
To Our Valued Customers:

Due to the privatization of Mt. Apo Geothermal Power Plant and Power Barge 104 and the scheduled rehabilitation works of certain PSALM/NPC-managed power plants in 2015, PSALM continues to reduce the allocation of all Distribution Utilities and Industries in the Mindanao Grid. This means that beginning January 2015, they can only supply us with one-third of what we need.

Starting this year, the PSALM/NPC-managed power plants can only provide Iligan City 11.4 MW, which is only one-third of our city's requirement of 35 MW. Because of this, we will need power from other sources, mainly diesel-fired generators to avoid the long and inconvenient rotational brownouts that we suffered in the previous years.

However, since diesel power costs three times the PSALM generation rate, the average rates for residential and commercial customers are estimated to reach up to ₱10.00 per kWh in 2015 compared to only ₱7.50 per kwh last year.

So to minimize the impact of this rising electricity rate, we encourage all our customers to actively conserve the use of electricity. We estimate that a 25% reduction in your monthly consumption will result to the same amount of power bill that you used to pay in the previous months.
